Let's welcome my 40th in grand style

on August 31st from 4 p.m. at Shari's Kitchen, Düsseldorf.

Four decades ago, the world was a completely different place. Especially in Sääksjärvi, Finland, where I came into this world. After my childhood and youth in Sääksjärvi and Tampere, a decade full of city life in Helsinki followed my graduation.

Then, my German heritage drew me back to my homeland, but not to the Rhineland, but to the cultural capital of Weimar. There, I had to find my place at first, but ultimately, I had a fantastic time and bid farewell to my youthful recklessness with a master's degree.

After a brief stay in my Finnish homeland, I finally found my home in the Rhineland, specifically in Düsseldorf. This year marks my tenth consecutive year here. It seems I'll be staying a while longer, as with Sarah and Emil, I have now started a family, and we plan to stay in the area for the foreseeable future.

On August 31st, people from all these four decades will be present. I am very much looking forward to welcoming you all and spending a fantastic evening with style and flair.

Where and When?

Grill afternoon @Shari´s Kitchen

Starting from 4 p.m., I'll be happy to welcome you in the courtyard of Shari's Kitchen in Düsseldorf. Let's kick things off with an aperitif and toast together. From 5:30 p.m., a generous buffet will be ready for you. Please note that we must vacate the venue by 10 p.m. For those of you who aren't ready to call it a night, I'd like to continue the party at a pub or club so we can enjoy the night together just like in our younger years.

Open Brunch @Rheinwiesen

After a long night, it's important to gather new strength - preferably over a cozy brunch. Since some of you have traveled a long way to Düsseldorf, it makes sense to come together again on Sunday. The brunch will be very informal, and everyone is welcome to join according to their own schedule. Of course, we also need to consider the weather a bit. There will be a small pavilion, maybe even a grill, and some snacks. Everyone is welcome to bring something along to contribute to the diverse selection for everyone.

Grill MENU - Starting at 5:30 PM

Main Course:

Country bread, hummus, aioli, babaganoush

Wild herb salad with roasted seeds, burrata with cherry tomatoes and arugula

Rosemary potatoes, grilled vegetables

Flambéed prawns with Pernod, whole salmon side from the oven

Vegetable-halloumi skewers, balsamic mushrooms

Grilled veggie sausages

Dessert:

Ice cream on a stick, mini apple crumbles in a glass

Brownies, assorted varieties

Beverages:

Water, spritzers, hot drinks, wine, beer, Aperol Spritz

Dresscode

Forget about the dress code, because to me, inner character matters more than outward appearance – unless you're Iron Man or Wonder Woman, then please come in your suits! Whether you're in fancy attire or sweatpants, you are warmly welcomed. So, dress in a way that makes you happy, and let's have an unforgettable time together!

Presents

For me, being together with my loved ones counts more than anything else. The greatest gift you can give me is your presence. I don't need material things to enjoy my birthday. It would be the most beautiful thing for me to spend time together and create memories. However, I also understand that gifts are a loving gesture for some. Therefore, I leave it up to each of you whether you decide to give me something.
